Faithful Navigator’s Message

Brothers,

Now that the warm weather is upon us it’s a great time to come out to the few events that we have left before we break for the summer. We have a Communion Breakfast on May 3rd, Honour Guard for Confirmation on May 24th, a Dinner Meeting on May 25th, then the BBQ Social on June 22nd. Plus there’s a couple of good Euchre games as well.

Exemplification is soon upon us. We have some good men who are considering their opportunity to join the 4th. Please take the time to encourage them in their decision, and make them feel welcome.

Candidates are welcome to be our guests at the May Communion Breakfast.

Registration for spouses and guests is available on line on the District website: www.kofc5thontdistrict.com.

Vivat,

Message from your Chaplain

Dear Brother Knights,

By the time that you receive this bulletin we should be close to the Easter Season or in it. So I wish all of you and your families a Happy Easter.

Easter does matter. It is a declaration of God’s love for us—the same love that created the world and sustains it. God’s love is more powerful than death. Christ’s resurrection shatters the bonds of death, and death is not the final word. Over the last few days, we have seen winter begin to give way to spring. With the lengthening days, and moderating and warming temperatures, I think that we can make the natural connection between the coming of Spring and Easter and Resurrection. There are signs of new life all around us. Jesus’ resurrection is not just about him but about all of us.

We, too, will be resurrected. And surely this is something to give us hope. The belief in Resurrection, which is the central doctrine of our faith, gives us the courage to face those trials that each of us must face. These might be likened to the Good Fridays in our lives. Our belief tells us that after death comes new life. Easter Sunday, then, is about Resurrection.

I want to thank all the Knights for all the work that you do for our Church and wider community. At this time, I wish you, again, a Happy Easter. Let us rejoice that Christ is risen.

Grand Knight’s Message

Dear Brother Knights,

Mother Nature seemed to make the Lenten season a bit more difficult for us with a prolonged cold spell this year. But signs of spring are showing and we have rejoiced and celebrated in the joy of Easter. Pat and I extend our Easter best wishes to everyone.

I continue to be encouraged by the involvement of our members in the work of Council and in the community. Thank you to everyone who has responded to the call to serve in whatever way you can. We are people of hope – may you share this hope with others.

You will notice in the coming events that there will be opportunities to come together and celebrate in the coming weeks. Boston Pizza night on Monday April 20, Council BBQ Thursday June 4, and the Walk-a-thon on Sunday June 14 are some of the events.

It is very important for our organization that we engage the new members and other members who have not seen where they can become active in Council activities. Bingo is always in need of people to be back up on short notice when something prevents a team member from attending a scheduled bingo. This is the main source of monies that we give to charity. Another area needing members to pitch-in is in the sale of Share the Wealth tickets. Revenue is down from these sales and fresh blood and new ideas are needed.

As we move into the month of May, Marion month, may the mother of Jesus be our source of inspiration to lead our Christian life.
