Magic Boss

Dan enjoys playing Magic: the Gathering trading card game off and on since 1994 with the release of the "Beta" set. He stepped back from the game in 1998 with the "Exodus" Set to focus on sports and High School. After a 12 year hiatus he returned to casual play in 2010 with the set " Rise of the Eldrazi" and finally making a return to competitive play in early 2011 with the release of "Mirrodin Besieged" which ended in 2017 with the banning of "Felidar Guardian" in standard. He plans to return to competitive play sometime in 2018 with eyes set on the "Modern" format. He currently plays casual Commander with some friends and occasional stops in different LGS's.

Magic: the Gathering played a good role in Dan's grade school experience making some friends during the fad period of the early 90's for Trading Card games. He dabbled in a few other random TCG's of the early 90's realizing that Magic was by far the superior game. He then decided to push the competitive edge in the pre-pro tour days of the game helping lead to the start of the "Merfolk" aggro archetype as well as helping tune the local versions of "Stasis-Winter Orb" combo lock deck. He is currently in the process of tuning and building a different "Delver" deck for both the Legacy and Modern formats with an emphasis on the Modern format for budgetary reasons.

The competitive side of "The Baus" will be with a major focus on Modern as he feels Standard hasnt been in a decent place for the past 4 years with the exception of the "Jeskai Ascendancy" and "Copycat" eras as he has always loved a good combo deck. He will be looking towards a "Delver" deck in Modern such as "Grixis" or "Jeskai" varieties as "Snapcaster Mage" is single handedly the best spell from the best colour in MtG. He loves the interaction with graveyards and how the deck and present a clock to finish the game in a hurry with the "Bolt-Snap-Bolt" strategy. He will be able to adjust this up to a "Legacy" deck as well with some investment so he will have more options to play more games.

Commander is currently the format being played by Dan and his strategy of "Baus Lands" has been stalling opponents into a good sleep as they are allowed to play there game but not execute it. The "Baus Lands" deck executes is plan of getting a "Merit Lage" token onto the battlefield or by using his general "Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis" or "Inkmoth Nexus" to ignore life totals and kill with commander damage or infect making the game either 21 or 10 points of damage instead of the usual 40+. Dan achieves these finishes through a long game of control like "Terminus" and "Supreme Verdict" with a few counterspells or by stalling the game out with a combonation of "Soleminty" with either "Glacial Chasm" or "Decree of Silence" effectively rendering the opponents damge or spells useless. The Deck recurs lands through many sources and the deck list can be found on his tumblr.

Dan has 2 more decks he has been working on and ideas flowing for a few more.
