My first video game console was
the Atari 2600
with games such as Asteroids and E.T. After that I've never
stopped playing so I've been a gamer
for over 30 years.
I first got a glimpse into coding when seeing a demo of the PC game Nibbles in high school in which a fellow student had recreated. I remember being impressed but didn't start myself until my thirties.
Once I was asked what game programming is when explaining that I wanted to study it. I said "You know when you play a game where you're in a house and you come to a door? When you press a button to open the door, the door opens. I want to make those types of things happen."
The door that I first opened was GameMaker Studio in which I tried my hand as you can see, and the next door I opened was a two year course at triOS College in Toronto.
These experiences have deepened my knowledge, tested me
thoroughly
and given me a great appreciation for
the work of developers of all kinds.
At triOS we've delved into the languages of Java,
JavaScript, C++,
Swift, C#, HTML and CSS. My home experiences
with GameMaker Studio allowed me to learn GML.
