Faithful Navigator’s Message

Sir Knights & Ladies:

Frank Flood lost his battle with cancer on June 4th. He is now with the Lord. Our prayers and condolences go out to Catherine and the Flood family.

This past Sunday we celebrated the 150th Anniversary of St. Joseph’s Parish. We were blessed by having Bishop Fabbro be the celebrant & homilist at all the weekend masses to help celebrate this historical event. Our Assembly financially supported the planning committee with a $150 donation.

I want to express my thanks to the Sir Knights that provided an Honour Guard for Confirmation on June 4th & the Final Sunday Mass on June11th.

At our May meeting we also approved: —

$ 25 for each of the 5 Separate Schools Graduation to cover cost of a keeper plaque for a student at each school.

$ 500 in support of the Bible Camp.

While we will not have meetings over the summer months, our commitment to working at bingos continues. Check out the schedule. Contact Larry McCabe if you are available.

Our BBQ Dinner will be on Monday June 26th. Cost for the meal is $10.00 per person.

As this is my last letter as your Faithful Navigator, I want to express my thanks to the SK’s that assisted me these last few months, while I devoted time with Mary Lou.

Also thanks to Howard Culligan for accepting the nomination as Faithful Navigator.

Fraternally Yours

Sir Knights & Ladies,

Easter is the greatest feast in our Liturgical Year. We are all thankful that Jesus died & rose again for our sins, but as humans we come up short on our promises to him. Let us ask for forgiveness & try to do better.

Our Spring Communion Brunch numbers were down. Those that could attend enjoyed the meal and fellowship. Thanks to Dave & Joan Franks for organizing and the SK’s that assisted in the Ministries during The Mass.

We have received a licence to run “Bingos”. All profits from the bingos will go to our parish cluster. The six months schedule has been issued and we have 10 bingos (ref. attached). Our 1st Bingo is a matinee Sunday Apr 23rd. Those who can assist working bingos please contact Larry McCabe or John Price.

Ross Campbell, a member of our council, will be Ordained to the Priesthood. His 1st Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Church on Sat May 13th 5:00 p.m..

The Christmas Season, a time when we celebrate the birth of Christ, has ended and we are now in Ordinary Time.

At the weekend masses Fr. Bester mentioned a new direction for our London Diocese “Family of Parishes”. This has been in the works for some time and will replace our “Clustered Parishes”. One of the reasons for this is in the next few years there will be even less Priests. I know that we don’t like change but let us pray that our Spiritual Leaders make the right decisions.

On another note Mary Lou is progressing, her spirits are good, she enjoys company & is looking forward to getting out of the Hospital.

Activities for our Assembly have been quiet over the Christmas Holiday that gave us a chance to spend time with our families however as listed below they are returning to normal.

Sir Knights & Ladies

We are all very busy at this time of the year, but remember the true meaning of Christmas “The Birth of Baby Jesus”.

Thanks to SK Howard Culligan for chairing our November business meeting.

We lost another Sir Knight Franz Ebner. He was always there when ever required. As an Assembly we showed our respect at his prayer service & mass of resurrection. Thanks to all those who attended, especially the Sir Knights from other Assemblies. Now Franz has Eternal Life. Let us keep Wally & family in our prayers at this most difficult time.

Everyone had a good time at the Christmas Party, sorry that we missed it. Thanks to those that stepped up & took over; Jean & Jeff Smith, and John Price.

Our Assembly will resume activities in January with a Euchre Party & Dinner Meeting.

I want to thank everyone for your prayers & kind words as Mary Lou recovers.

Mary Lou and myself wish everyone a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Sir Knights & Ladies:

Our new liturgical year will begin shortly with the season of Advent, a time we use to prepare us for Christmas.

We had a very good turnout for our Communion Breakfast. The meal was enjoyed by all. We even had some SK’s & Ladies from London. Also thanks to those Sir Knights that participated in the various ministries at Mass.

The November 2nd Memorial Service was well attended. The SK’s in Regalia complemented the service & gave a helping hand to those requiring.

Thanks to the Sir Knights that represented our Assembly on Nov 11th at the Remembrance Day Parade and the Cenotaph Ceremony.

Our November Meeting will be a meeting only.

I hope as many as possible come out to our annual Christmas Dinner which will be held on Friday December 9th. For tickets contact SK John Price. They are $ 20 for a Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings.

Also thanks to the SK’s that have agreed to host our upcoming Euchre Parties. We now have coverage through March.

Faithful Navigator’s Message

Brothers,

As I put together my last bulletin as your Faithful Navigator I find that I have so much to say, but not enough words to say it all. Jean and I would like to thank all of you for your support during the last two years as we had the honour of performing our duties. I know I could not have completed this task without Jean’s help and without the help of my Brother Knights. I’m sure Jean feels the same gratitude towards many of ladies.

I look forward to the next two years as Jack and Mary Lou take over the helm. I know that all of us will give them the same encouragement and support that you’ve given Jean and I.

Vivat,

SK Jeff and Jean Smith

Faithful Navigator’s Message

Brothers,

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Deacon Mark this week. Deacon Mark has been a friend to the parishes and to the Council for many years now. Our condolences go out to his family.

But where there is sadness, we were happy to see the support of brother Knights from Assemblies as far away as Tillsonburg and Waterloo when we needed help with our Honour Guard duties this week. Our thanks to our brother Knights who responded to our call.

Thanks, of course, to the members of our own Assembly who made it out as well.

Please note that this month’s Dinner Meeting is actually on a Tuesday, May 24th, as the Monday is a holiday. I hope to see everyone out.

Vivat,

SK Jeff Smith

Faithful Navigator’s Message

Brothers,

As I watch the snow and rain turn the world into a large skating rink outside, I find it hard to believe that it’s the middle of April already. It’s been a strange winter, indeed.

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday. Jean and I had a great time at the Communion Breakfast on April 4th. Thanks again to Dave Franks for organizing that event.

We hope to see everyone out for our April Dinner Meeting on the 25th.

Vivat,

SK Jeff Smith

Faithful Navigator’s Message

Brothers,

Jean and I want to wish everyone a joyful Easter.

Please note that there is no dinner meeting in March as it would interfere with the Easter celebrations.

Instead, please try to attend our Communion Breakfast on April 3rd. Be sure to let either myself or Dave Franks know how many people you are bringing with you.

We also have a Dinner Meeting on April 25th. Again, I hope to see everyone out for that.

Vivat,

SK Jeff Smith

Faithful Navigator’s Message

Brothers,

Well Winter seems to have come and gone faster than we expected. I say that there’s no more snow on the way because I finally got around to fixing my snowblower.

We have a dinner meeting on February 22nd. I hope to see everyone there.

There may be a bit of confusion in March, though. Thanks to Dave Frank’s tireless efforts, we once again have our March Communion Breakfast coming up, although it will take place on April 3rd (due to Easter and the Queen’s Inn’s availability). But then we have our regular Dinner Meeting on April 25th. So yes, there are two functions in April, after a bit of a quiet March.

We look forward to seeing everyone for the Communion Breakfast, as well as the Dinner Meeting.

Vivat,

SK Jeff Smith
