Faithful Navigator’s Message

Brothers,

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Deacon Mark this week. Deacon Mark has been a friend to the parishes and to the Council for many years now. Our condolences go out to his family.

But where there is sadness, we were happy to see the support of brother Knights from Assemblies as far away as Tillsonburg and Waterloo when we needed help with our Honour Guard duties this week. Our thanks to our brother Knights who responded to our call.

Thanks, of course, to the members of our own Assembly who made it out as well.

Please note that this month’s Dinner Meeting is actually on a Tuesday, May 24th, as the Monday is a holiday. I hope to see everyone out.

Vivat,

SK Jeff Smith

Message from your Chaplain

Dear Brother Knights,

As you know, we are in the Easter Season which is the highest season in the Christian Faith and our Church year.  I hope you all had a blessed Easter.  The weather sure made it seem like Easter and it helped us celebrate the Resurrection.

Since Easter, we have been hearing about the post-Resurrection Appearances of Jesus, and hearing about the rise and activities of the early Christian communities who experienced the risen Lord.  In our own lives, we, too, experience the risen Lord many times each day.  Every time we celebrate a sacrament, we encounter the risen Lord.  Every time we show acts of kindness and extend mercy to those around us, we see the risen Lord.  With the coming of Spring, we see signs of the risen Lord.  We need to try to be conscious of this so that we experience the risen Lord in our lives.

On May 15, we will celebrate the great feast of Pentecost, the birthday of our Church.  We also celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation at 2:00 in our cluster at St. Joseph’s Church.  I want to thank the Fourth Degree for the honour guard you will supply for that celebration.  I also want to thank you for all that you do in our Church and wider community.

Continue to enjoy the Easter Season.

Your Chaplain,

Fr. Dick Bester

Grand Knight’s Message

Dear Brother Knights & Ladies:

This past week our council has encountered an array of emotions.

Prior to our April Council Meeting we conducted a 1st Degree with 4 new men joining the Knight’s, one from our council. Welcome Br. Martin Switzer. It was also gratifying that a significant number of brothers came out to be part of this degree.

I want to congratulate brothers Micheal Mooney & Sal Mareno. On April 10th I witnessed along with other brothers from our council them receiving their 2nd & 3rd Degrees. (There were 43 receive their 2nd & 52 their 3rd)

However we are saddened by the passing of Brother Carmine Costanzo on April 9th. He was a 25 year member active in our council until the last few years. Our condolences go out to his wife Mirella and their family. Once again thanks to those that attended his Prayer Service as we do for all of our deceased brothers.

A few events to keep in mind:

Past Grand Knight’s Dinner is Sunday April 24th.

On May the 1st, we will be cooking a Brunch on behalf of St. Joseph’s Restoration. This will take place after the 11:30AM Mass in the church hall, There will be a free will offering.

Mother’s Day is May 8th. It is also our Right to Life Rose Sunday. We will be at the church doors prior & after masses. When contacted please offer you services.

Your Grand Knight

John J. Price
